The album starts the very interesting intro: amateur recorded of choral singings of the faithful of both sexes during the mass in some Italian church, interrupted by inclusions of aggressive metal – this Horned Devil demands for their rights ?
The Music of X PUS defines the term black-death, but the beginning of the disc includes a majority of style death. In the tracks 2 and 3 we hear the grinding guitars, the drummer that has a lot of inventive and original solutions rhythmic. In the “Desecration of …” was used single sounds of beating bell, probably generated from a keyboard. The song ends with the singing, which we already know from the Catholic mass. The track “Die as a Sinner” also was interesting arranged. In next tracks grow influences of black metal, till total domination. The guitars are sharp and heavy in every time. The instruments are low-tuned. There is the atmosphere of darkness. In next further tracks was used insertions of Catholic singings as well as the sounds of a bell. The brutal fragments often interspersed with slower motifs and there are moments when the band is quiet, and the one musician only play, a guitarist or a drummer. This introduces variety.
Unfortunately after that the storm from album gets more and more steady, that it is a bit boring. The band can not interestingly create all the songs. Perhaps such was the plan: the growing and surging aggression. For me, the second part of the album is too monotonous. The album ends with outro, the pious songs similar to the intro.
In summary, this is not a bad proposal. This is a good brutal metal, although it could be better. If you like extreme death-black then you can boldly reach for this title.

If this Italian trio was aiming for a blackened death metal sound similar to some of South America's most notorious satanic hate groups well they nailed it. Since I'm a fan of many diabolical sounding bands from down there this isn't so impressive. It's been done many times before and not only from South America but also in Finland with BEHERIT and Canada with BLASPHEMY. Now that's not to say I don't like it or it's sub-par. On the contrary this is one helluva, pun intended, release.
XPUS must have signed a deal with satan in order to create this bestial full length. Yeah it has all the marks of their forebearers, or the beast. The production is slightly a step up from raw. The guitar sound comes off sounding like some manical power tool. Vocals are cavernous in nature which is mandatory for this style. It's the sound of the beast. The songs are more in the thrash vein than slow death. And of course the song topics; "Die as a Sinner", "The Great Worm of the Third Circle", along with "Desecration of the Image of God" leave no doubt that these guys do not moonlight as Sunday school teachers.

Neophyte (ATMOSFEAR #17)

X Pus is what most people would call a death metal band given a sound that is a cross between the rawness of Incantation and the brutality and simplicity of Grave’s demo days. However, given the band’s blasphemous attitude towards the church of jesus chritus the jebus of all fantasies the Italians are more correctly a black metal act. The catch is for that statement to be true, jesus and his adventures must have existed in the first place, which they did not (my very false sympathies to you, every retarded trailer trash who lives in Oklahoma and fucks his sister under the shadow of the crucifix, enlists in the US serial loser army despite having carried a gun in his shorts since birth).
The two former Unholy Land members and cohort are not lacking in brutality, distortion and intent. The dual-vocals are deep and quite heavy. Moreover, the album has one of the better intros in recent past in which the jingle bell sounds of a jebusian cult ritual is both undercut and cut through by the band. The theme is extended past the intro into the first proper track, Desecration Of The Image Of God. The title is quite appropriate because the anti-idolatry of the band’s intro reminded this writer of Pussy Riot’s brave and liberating act in Russia. Where the band falls short and is losing points is the simplistic nature of the musicianship. It is not a demand or insistence on the superiority of technical music. It is simply a case of a number of songs that are ultimately too simple. The meager guitar leads are representative as is the untight drumming.
Should X Pus pick up the mastery of its instruments without losing its ferocity future rating would reflect the improvement. In the meanwhile, the disc itself is adorned with attractive art on its etched and music side.

Ali “The Metallian” (metallian.com)

With an album title like that this can’t be anything but satanic death metal or black metal. I will be greatly disappointed if this turns out to be something completely different. Because right now I could do with a cool Deicide blast or why not a Morbid Angel or an early Bathory. And this is more in the Bathory school of very basic and to the point black metal. You will not get anything symphonic or grandeur from this band. This is down’n’dirty black metal that makes me think “… The Return” more than anything else, but turned up like a thousand notchs. This is brutal and basic and bloody nasty but sooooo fucking cool.

By foundation date (sometime in 2015) you'd say X Pus are a young band, but actually the trio continues what was left from the ashes of Soulphureus (2009-2015), band that in its turn continues on the ashes of Unholy Land (1998-2009), so basically one could also say this band was founded in 1998 and released 3 full-length album before raching this new point in their career. I'm not familiar with the first 2 band's music, but from what I can guess their music became meaner and meaner in time reaching a point where this "new" album could be referred to as raw, brutal and offensive Black Death Metal. Although their image indicate a S&M related lyrics topic the band actually deals with profound and rabid anti-christianity and ferocious Satanism, so from this point of view the music accompanies well the lyrical aspect, they blend well and offer a complete image. The music sounds organic and I'd say has a good production with my only complaint that the vocals are mixed a bit too in front of the instruments. As said earlier we're treated with some brutal, low tuned, mid-tempo to fast paced Black Death Metal (with emphasis on Black Metal when it comes to the instruments, and on Death Metal when we talk about vocals) with a tempest of guitar riffs and organic drums, but except for the extreme brutality, it brings nothing new to the table, nothing to be able to pinpoint the band on in the future. Anyway, if you're into extreme Black Death give this a listen, you might like it.

Dzwon rozbrzmiewa też jeszcze w blastowo-transowym „The Cherub’s Throne“, a chóralne śpiewy w „Eternal Flame“ i króciutkim „Outro“.

This is a quite bestial and obscured form of satanic death metal with recurrent doses of black metal atmospheres.
Coming from Lombardy, these guys composed a very decent debut album highly influenced by the most chaotic and powerful side of the genre. I really liked it because the production is more focused in transmit obscured miasmas and cathartic sections, than shiny musical skills. Yep, they recall me a lot South American old entities, but they know how to take advantage of sinister guitar riffs and ultra-aggressive vocal lines. The result sounds brute, rude and holocaustic. Vocalist Luca Arnoldi did an excellent work and he delivers destructive lines through cavernous screams. It seems like he has been part of underground metal scene since a lot of time and everything is tied by good taste in extreme metal music. It’s a solid debut album that deserves your attention if you are into satanic death metal with complex elements and bestial vocals.

Victor Varas (Zombie Ritual Zine)

XPUS plays a delightfully disgusting bit of death/black metal and bring us their debut with 'Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth’. First thing I noticed was a small, but nice detail; the backside of the CD has a kind of engravings of demons and sigils where the cd was blank. I have seen this done on vinyl, but never on a CD. Musically, the band shares a sound with bands like Archgoat, Profanatica and older Belphegor. Blasts are broken up by slower parts en the album is adorned with a few strategically placed samples. The music is not complicated, but is played tightly and the grunt is pleasing to my ears. Fine album for those fond of death/black metal.

Kevin (Lords Of Metal)

Los riffs son bastante monótonos y la guitarra aporta crudeza al conjunto, luciéndose más en “Desecration of the Image of God” y en “The Great Worm of the Third Circle”.

No, ovviamente!!
.... l'Italia colpisce ancora!!!!!

Criss (WISDOM Musicart Zine #23)

What's with all the fucking blissful blessedness in the midst of the pre-Christmas stress? No sooner has Diavolo (see seven notches down) served Ave Maria, before Italian X Pus opens with gruesome excerpts from some damn church concert, which they eventually mangle and mutilate with various distortion and shit.
When the music eventually kicks in, it stands in stark contrast.
The two guys Mornak and Aren formed their first band in 1998, and together they created X Pus almost a year ago. The band has grown into a trio with drummer "L".
"Death smelling black metal" the booklet says. Besides hideous intro and ditto outro, we are left with eight tracks of between 4 and 5 minutes, where the band drones out both doom-laden and frenetic extremity in a quite monotonous manner, without particular individuality, finesse or any other extras.
The sound ain't the best either. Which is just as fucking well anyway, as it's really quite flattering in a charming way.
The content of what I tend to call "objective qualities" is rather lukewarm.
However, there are other qualities to Sanctus Dominus....
The band's steady, atonal, pulverizing, resounding thunder has a hypnotic, sleep-inducing effect. Some variation can be found in the savagery, but all in all one has heard similar bestial brutality too many times for XPUS to leave any lasting impression. Fair enough right there and then, but I'm not going to remember this tomorrow.
Hell, I heard the album once yesterday, and four times a few hours ago, before I listened a bit more to Critical Solution while completing the writings (or rather translation) below, and now I had practically forgotten their expression again.
Tough enough at the moment. Unoriginal and forgettable in the long run.

Gorger (Gorger's Metal)

XPUS are a band from Italy that plays a raw mixture of black, death and war metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth" which was rleeased by Metal Scrap Records.
Ritualistic bells and gongs start off the album along with some melodic choirs and evil synths a few seconds later and after the intro the music goes into a very fast and raw wart metal direction t hat also uitlizes a great amount of blast beats and bestial death metal growls and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Morbid sounding melodies are brought into the music at times while some of the slower riffs add in a touch of 90's influenced death/doom metal and they also mix in the ritualistic parts in with the heavier side at times and the fast riffs also display a more raw style of black metal along with a few high pitched screams being added into some parts of the songs and all of the tracks avoid any use of guitar solos and leads and focus more on a raw, heavy and blasphemous musical style.
XPUS plays a musical style that takes the darkest and rawest elements of black, war and death metal and mixes them together to create a very heavy, evil and blasphemous sounding recording, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Anti Christian, Left hand Path, Occultism, Death and Destruction themes.
In my opinion XPUS are a very great sounding mixture of war, black, and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Desecration Of The Image Of God" "LHP" and "Primordial Evil Essence".
