Wings In Motion is a modern melodic death metal band formed in 2008 in Greece. After several line-up changes the band now consists of Andre Boutos on vocals, Tasos Asonitis and Alex Lappas on the guitars, Constantine on the keyboards, George Constantinou on the bass, and Defkalion on the drums. They recently supported Dark Tranquillity during their shows in Thessaloniki and Athens. The band is slowly trying to make a name outside of Greece too. Maybe the release of their first full length album will help them in their effort. The mastering took place at Fascination Street Studios (Sweden) by Tony Lindgren (Paradise Lost, Kreator, Enslaved, Katatonia).
After a modern keyboard intro the album starts off with “The Perfect Lines”. It gives you a good feeling of Wings in Motion’s basic sound. Boutos switches easily between clean, screams and growls. Beside the outstanding guitar riffs  by Asonitis and Lappas, the music is dominated by Constantine’s keyboard melodies which range from industrial to symphonic. The next song, “Our Bleeding”, was already released as an official video.

While the melodic death metal roots are obvious, their music is characterized by catchy riffs and choruses, the occasional metalcore breakdown, and often backed up by synthesizer melodies. “Hydra’s Head” is a good example of this with one of those powerful breakdowns  in the second part of the song and strong overall presence of the keyboard. “Through the Shadows (I Rise)” was released as a second official video. On “Of My Demons” the keyboard is used for soundtrack like effects making the whole thing more epic. The last part of the track Boutos sings over a keyboard melody, interspersed with group shouts that would work well live. Pay attention to the technical bass lines by Constantinou on “In Absentia of Tomorrow” and “One Moment To Lose It All”. They really have the chance to stand out during some points in the song. The album closes with “Distances” where Boutos gets assisted by a female vocalist. After doing some googling I suspect this must be the lovely Vicky Psarakis, the new singer for The Agonist after Alissa White-Gluz’s departure to Arch Enemy.
Wings In Motion deliver a strong debut album for fans of modern melodic death metal. Their music reminds me of bands such as Degradead, Mutiny Within, Amaranthe, Sonic  Syndicate and the newer In Flames. People who cannot stand too much keyboard or catchy melodies in metal might dislike this band, but I recommend checking out some of their songs anyway. Some of the tracks on this album reach a higher level than the latest efforts of aforementioned bands.

Greek band Wings In Motion was founded in 2008 and the pivotal man behind this six-headed collective happens to be guitarist Tasos Asonitis. He followed music education in London, he has written all the songs and a part of the lyrics with vocalist Andre Boutos and early 2014 he was recruited as new guitarist in Insidead. The band has worked hard to get some step by step recognition, they presented themselves in 2011 at Frankfurter Musik Messe and won a local metal contest.
After a few demo recordings, they started working at this full length debut ‘Cyclicity’ late 2012. Also here they left nothing to coincidence, since the album got its final touch by mastering at the Fascination Street Studios in Sweden by Tony Lindgren. Nothing but praise for the chunky guitar sound and the necessary transparency in the sometimes technical approach of music. Wings In Motion has talent! They play melodic death metal that instantly reminds us of bands like Dark Tranquillity, (earlier) In Flames and Scar Symmetry, but this slightly lack of originality is amply compensated by the strong songs. As said before the album brims with groove-laden (thrash-like) riffs, but this modern heaviness is graced with a kind of playfulness of modern and/or symphonic keyboard layers by Constantine and this in a familiar sounding yet professional way. The video clip for ‘Our Bleeding’ shows a modern band with singer Andre Boutos constantly shifting between raucous scream-like grunts and proper done clean vocals. In ‘The Hydra’s Head’ we clearly hear that the band also infiltrated any progressive influences in its works. With fetching keyboard intros, or with some introvert guitar ornaments like in ‘Through The Shadows’, every song has an engrossing beginning while bursting out into raging rhythmic patterns soon. A great pro is that the songs are very accessible and catchy. The choruses and clean vocal parts are instantly haunting you. The frisky interaction between raucous and clean chants in ‘One Moment To Lose It All’ is really top notch class. Now and then all this is graced with a proper classical guitar solo and finally this turns into a very strong debut from start to finish. In the last track ‘Distances’ the vocal contrast of rough/clean is made by the female vocals of Vicky Psarakis. This is a band to remember and keep an eye on, surely for fans of melodic death metal.

slowly we roth magazine 6Here's a nice surprise from Greece, a band founded in 2008 but a band that only managed to release their debut 6 years later; too bad because they seem really enthusiast and ready to take on the World. This album features 10 tracks lasting for 47 minutes of Death Metal, melodic and modern Death Metal with a touch of Progressive. Wings in Motion seems to be a quite mature outfit, their music is Swiss-clock precise all the time to a point when the riffs seem unhuman, but at the same time it's epic and majestic, all this by blending a few old-school patterns and polishing them with lots of modern influences. Cyclicity is complex but at the same time easy flowing, as a debut album I couldn't ask for more from this band, so I'd suggest to go get a copy of this album, Wings in Motion might become a name we'll all hear much more abou in the future.

This is said to be "Greek modern progressive melodic death metal", but I think it sounds like nu metal (brutal verses, melodic choruses). It's good though, and that's the most important thing to me, and then you can call it whatever you want to.
I really like the mixture of brutality and melody. In the last song we get some female vocals too, and that sounds really good. More of that please!
No matter if you like melodic death metal, modern metal or nu metal, this could actually be worth checking out.

Wings In Motion are a band from Greece that plays a very melodic and progressive form of death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Cyclicity" which was released by Metal Scrap Records.
The album starts out with electronic music sounds and after the intro the recording goes into a more heavy and melodic direction while also keeping around the synths and adding in prog elements before adding in death metal vocals along with clean singing.
As the album continues they start mixing modern melodic death metal with prog metal as well as bringing in groove elements along with a small amount of guitar solos and leads and on one of the songs they bring in a brief use of clean playing before returning to a heavier direction along with a small amount of blast beats and on the last song they bring in a small amount of acoustic guitars and female vocals.
Wings In Motion are another young band that plays a modern of melodic form of death metal with symphonic, grove, progressive and electronic elements and while this is not very original sounding it is still very well executed.
Song lyrics cover darkness, mythology and everyday themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound with the bass guitars being mixed down low in the mix.
In my opinion Wings Of Motion are a very decent sounding progressive and melodic death metal b and and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Perfect Lines" "Your Insanity" "Of My Demons" and "Distances".
