Picture a moody reviewer in the early morning congestions, with a good idea. And that idea is to put on the latest effort of the Italian band Inira. And all of the sudden, the traffic jam looks all different. The band was formed in 2005 and this is their second album since ‘Revolution Has Begun’, from 2010. These guys make melodic death metal, with a lot of orientation towards emo core. Think of the likes of Trivium, As I Lay Dying, bands that are not afraid to go full throttle, but that are also well capable of presenting more common singing, with a little more depth than a grunting or screaming voice.
On these eleven songs a band shows that knows what its intentions are. There is a great coherence in the songs, it has a remarkably good production value to it and the balance in the songs itself is very nice too. There is a clear sense of direction in this band, which anyone will acknowledge, regardless of taste. Every now and then there is a part which is shoved in a bit compelled, with shifts to a light, jazzy, ambiance, but I can understand that once that is on you palette, you want to use it too. All in all it is far from a burden to listen to for fans of the genre, to listen to the new Inira and from what I hear here I suspect they will be capable of turning an event into a party too. We might hear a lot more of this band, but in order to establish their name, the next record cannot wait another eight years.

Inira are around since 2005, yet this is only their second full-length album, so we're dealing with a not so productive ensemble I'd say. It seems they have started out as Melodic Death Metal outfit, but this new album of theirs is pretty far from that, the 11 tracks featured (in 50 minutes of playing time) are offering a mix of Melodic Metal with Eletro, Metalcore and Alternative Metal, maybe with a bit of Djent thrown inthere, too. The first thing that hits you is the guitar tone, as low as it can be, producing some damn heavy riffs all the time, which supported by a similarly downtuned bass line and a progressive-oriented intricate drumming, decorated by melodic and modern guitar lines (with serious Indie influences) and various types of solos here and there make up a solid and complex release with plenty to enjoy and dicover along the lines. The vocals are as diverse as the music is, ranging from melodic screams (if I can say so) to almost whispered soft, laid back vocals, to vocals on multiple layers that sound almost like choirs, mesmerizing choirs I'd say. All in all this is a fresh, interesting, captivating release for fans of Alternative Metal.

The band was formed in 2005 in the locality of Vajont, in the Dolomites, in the Friuli region – Venezia Giulia. This place is known for the Vajont Dam, which was touch in 1963 the largest catastrophe in the history of the water dam.
INIRA previously released a full-lenght album in 2010 and a three-track EP in 2013. The music of “Gray Painted Garden” is an aggressive melodic death-metal / modern-metal. In these songs, sharp fragments alternate with calmer ones, there are many electronic, romantic intros and outros and interludes. A lot is happening on several plans at the same time.
The guitars and vocals bring the most to the work of the Italian quartet. The guitarist is able to pull the strings brutally but as well as calmly and climatically. His melodic licks and solos are interesting. There are some great parts of cooperation the guitar with the bass on the album. The vocalist is very versatile, he expresses various states of the human soul. He sings calmly, melodiously, but also in a dramatic way, full of despair, complaining. The vocalist of INIRA is very emotionally involved. The electronics appears all the time on the album, but it plays mainly the role of an ornament, it does not contribute much to the composition. The drummer does not stand out with anything special.
There is a lot of dynamism and brutality on “Gray Painted Garden”, but the tracks “The Falling Man” and “The Path” contain fragments referring to rock. The Italian music has darkness, pessimism, even despair, but it is not nihilistic, like black-metal.
The orthodoxs of dingy, underground metal have nothing to look for at INIRA disc. But in their style the band presents a high level.

Her kommer bandets post-hardcore og metalcore-elementer tydelig frem. Denne kvartetten anbefales a sjekke ut, disse gutta mener nemlig alvor En Her lig overraskelse na fer juf!

Wer tut so was?
